14' Bark Expedition

This board has become my go to board for a few reasons.
1- It's a super fun board to surf when the waves are on the small side. There is something special to the glide of a big board that is very addicting. Because of the shape and design of the bottom and rails it surfs very well for such a big board.

2- Downwinding. This board is an absolute blast when the wind is blowing 20mph and higher, for me the higher the better that's what Downwining is all about. Because of its surfy feel you are able to turn and connect bumps instead of being locked in straight and with plenty of nose rocker it sits very nice in the bumps.

Specs 14'
nose 12.375"
mid 29.25"
tail 13.25"
thick 5.188"
volume 235L
fin single 8" box
SURFTECH TUFLITE CONSTRUCTION

  1. thanks for sharing your thoughts. Ready to get into the sup scene but not real sure which board to get. Lot of money up front so want to make the right choice the 1st time. The expedition sounds ~ close to what I'm looking for.

  3. Thanks!
Probably more on the paddle direction. My board quiver right now is a 9'5" surftech mctavish razar and a 6'8" boardworks spencer yancy. Am 54 and have surfed since 1972. It's a love I enjoy but pretty much hang right here in SP these days instead of chasing a 1' bigger down the beach where the crowds are. Lived on c-st from '77-'83, and lifeguarded wb also.
Have a trailer on a canal(salterpath) to the sound so probably looking more for sound use than wave use, but still surfable if need be. Swim ~2750yds m-fri (since ~1995) and have been road cycling (~19-20pace/~35miles per ride) for ~1 yr. Aerobic wise and surf wise in pretty decent shape for 54. 6' ~195lbs. Want to try and pick the right stick/SUP ---- the 1st time.

THANKS so much for helping point me in the right direction! Your description above sounds what I looking for. You think?

  5. surfsalterpath,
If you are just looking to get out and paddle but still catch small waves this is the board and you can downwind with it also. Its a great all round board but it won't win races in flat water. Give Jason or Phil a call over at Side Arm Surf and Skate in Porters Neck they are a surftech dealer and very in the know of SUP. Hope this helps, you will be very stoked with paddling.
